What a book!

Excellent book! It truly represents what it is like to go through trauma and recovery. I found parts of myself in every story and hope at the end of each. I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced child hood trauma, and especially those suffering from DID. Candidly written, but with heartfelt honesty, it is not just another series of stories of survival. It is a series of stories of hope.

Thank you! Thank you!

We haven't even read the whole thing yet. Will probably take quite awhile as we have to pace ourselves so as not to get flooded. But just had to come and say, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" to Colin Ross for doing this book. And a HUGE thank you to all the people that contributed to it. We have DID. We pretty much thought we might for many years, but just got accurately/officially diagnosed about 6 months ago. I can so identify with so many people in this book, and I am very much hanging on to their strength, insight, and success. DID can be such a lonely disorder to have. There are not a lot of places to go to meet others with DID. It's not that they aren't out there......it's just.....it's not as obvious as people think. Many, many of us are very high functioning people with graduate degrees in everything from accounting to education to social work. DID can be very hard to live with because people don't understand it. All they know is what they've seen in the movies. We have such a distaste for the media on this issue as they have stigmatized us all. Made it so it's as if we have traded one secret in life for another. First we had the secret of our abuse......now we carry the secret that we have DID. The irony in that is very painful. We wish people understood. I think this book is a step in the right direction for helping people understand DID and for helping those of us with it not feel so alone. Thank you! Thank you! Will probably come and write again when I'm done reading.
