Good local advice!

I'm baffled by the other reviewer who said there were no mom-and-pop B & B's listed in Steve Knopper's "Colorado" guide. Did he just mean in Cortez or all over the state? There are dozens of locally-owned B-n-B's listed in this book--from Denver to Central City to Colorado Springs and beyond. Frankly, I'd be REALLY disappointed if any guidebook wasted the time to refer me to a Holiday Inn, unless it was the only place in that area. This book is packed with detailed information and insider tips and I found it very helpful, especially the chapter on Boulder where I learned of Sights that I never knew existed.

Never disappointed by Moon

I have used Moon Handbooks for all of my serious vacation planning. I have used my Colorado book over and over again for numerous areas throughout the state. I like to do a fair amount of research before going on trips and while this may not always provide the degree of depth I'm looking for, it provides you with links to further information so you can get to where you want to be - that's all one can really expect a good travel guide to do. The volume of information in this guide is staggering. I find it to be entertainingly written, with just enough "off the beaten path" material to keep it slightly more interesting than the average tour book. I've also used the guides for Tennessee, Alaska, Acadia National Park and Hawaii - I enthusiastically give these guides 2 thumbs up and wish I had more thumbs to give it. Kudos!

versatile book

I've just returned from a 10 day trip to CO [1,200 mi.] and found the book to be very helpful. It covered at least briefly just about every town we stopped in. Had ideas for accommodations, restaurants, hikes and other activities. I was very thankful I'd brought it along.

Great Guide Book

I've lived in Colorado most of my life. I found this guidebook to be refreshing, interesting, and a good resource -- whether you are visiting for the first time or (like me) already know quite a bit about the state.

Great unique travel book!

I am delighted to finally have a travel book that is easily readable by an author who has "been there, done that." Steve Knopper shares personal experiences and opinions with a sense of humor, an expertise as a writer, and first-hand knowledge of the areas he describes. He has grown up in Colorado, and his love and appreciation for this astoundingly beautiful state is apparent on every page. Unlike other travel books, where I feel the author has never visited the places, Knopper makes me want to experience a Colorado holiday from his unique perspective.
