A collection of poems dealing with a woman's relationship to her own body as well as her mother's struggle with breast cancer. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I found it interesting that people who purchased this book also purchased Alice Seybold's The Lovely Bones. While both are lovely in their own way, this book is full of the grit of reality, while of course Seybold's is the cotton candy world of the hereafter. Personally, I prefer Glatt's vision, though I thoroughly enjoyed both books. Glatt's work is stark and honest, yet human and infinitely forgiving. I highly recommend this book.

she reminds me of bukowski, the simplicity of her language, but there is a lot going on in these poems...she writes about her sexuality, her childhood, her mother's battle with cancer, and she shows the reader the beauty you can mine out of vulgarity...

If Gertrude Stein were to have had a literary offspring, Lisa Glatt would do her proud. Monsters & Other Lovers is an amazing book of poems. Buy this book.
