In the third book in the series, hapless, goofy Grampa and his grandson Wiley are in for another zany adventure: They're out to capture Moby Fizz, the biggest, bloated, most deformed bass the world has ever known--dead, alive or deep-fried. Readers be warned: You're about to see prehistoric fish the size of a small town, you'll witness a terrifying pirhana attack, and you'll even see Grampa wearing nothing but a grass skirt. That's right, it ain't pretty. And it ain't easy plunging the depths of Lake Putrid to capture a whale--at least not without the help of Gramma and the reunited Gingham County Ladies water skiiing team, and Paco, Grampa's prized pet goldfish.
I love the Wiley & Grampa series by Kirk Scroggs. The Monster Fish Frenzy is great for the Christmas season. It's 3rd in the series. So, be sure to check out the rest. These books are a lot of fun for boys who might be picky about what they read. If your child loves the Captain Underpants books, then turn him on to these. I bought "Wiley & Grampa's Creature Features: Dracula vs. Grampa" for my son Rory when my eldest, Mitch, was making fun of him at Borders for being afraid of R.L. Stine. I wanted to even the scales a little by showing him he could read books about monsters like his big brother (his imagination gets the better of him sometimes), and as soon as he saw the cover he was glued. So I bought him all four Wiley books (which didn't, by the way, come close to the price tag of his brothers' Goosebumps bonanza) and lo and behold, not only does my little one eat the Wiley & Grampa series up like candy, I caught his brother (10) with his nose in one of them a few days later! When the dust from the fight over them cleared, I took a look and found it to be heads and tails above any of the juvenile (no pun intended) stuff that both of them so often get stuck with, but somehow still boasting some rear-end and flatulence jokes framed in ways that actually made even me giggle (quietly, so they wouldn't see). Not to mention a few gags that went over their heads, but that I really enjoyed. So even though I've never been moved to review one of their books online before, basically, I could not be happier that we stumbled across Wiley & Grampa. We 3 highly recommend!!
