Offers an alternative to budgeting and provides a system of proactive spending to build savings, pay down credit and debt, handle financial emergencies, and balance checkbooks. This description may be from another edition of this product.
The system is fairly compressed, similar in concept to Mary Hunt's 'Money Makeover' but less detailed in its record-keeping. You basically estimate and spend in a few basic categories. For example, you might list "Utilities" with what you plan to spend and what you actually spend, but you won't break it down any further, into Gas, Electric, Phone, Cable TV, Internet, etc. This is a good book for those who don't have time for elaborate systems or whose uaual method of financial management involves playing the ATM like a slot machine ("Will it give me money today?").
