James Laver seems to have difficulty bringing together each of his chapters. This disjointedness leaves the book without an overarching theme. Even without a theme though, each chapter is quite informative and entertaining. As a side note: the age of the author and the age of the book makes many of his statements (in regards to his youth etc.) quite amusing.
