The title of this book is barely adequate to cover the vast amount of knowledge contained herein. This book covers it all, from choosing shotguns and loads to shooting technique for the beginner or expert to decoying to culinary technique. If you have any kind of scientific bone in your body this book will appeal to you with its thorough explanation of pattering, shot string dynamics, and shot flight dynamics to name a few. There are sections on hand loading for the beginner or expert as well. Even if you never intend to reload your own shells, the science behind choosing the right load is discussed at length and will help you match the right factory loads to your specific needs. Throughout the book it becomes clear that Don Zutz was a man of patience, science and sportsmanship. His emphasis on knowing your equipment, its limitations and your own limitations exemplify what a serious waterfowler out to be. Sure, the book was written more than twenty years ago before 3 ½" 12 ga. magnums existed and when ducks could still be hunted with lead shot in some places. The basic principles haven't changed and Mr. Zutz' book should be read by anyone who is interesting in preserving the sport and the waterfowl we hunt.
