good treatment of modern methods

Dudewicz and Mishra provide a good treatment of mathematical statistics as it was in 1988. It is unique in its coverage of computational methods and software and the emerging area of expert systems. I was pleased to see coverage of influence functions including some of my work. This book also provides a good mix of theory and application.
