Sommers has edited a pretty good text for basic writing composition. Sommers covers the range of writing voices excellently. he keeps the explanations simple for the layperson. The essays in this selection are great essays, many of them those you wouldn't normally come across. there are times when sommers could have selected a better choice for an example. but still, a good text. it is a shame it is out of print.
