...The anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam", (on which this manga is based) holds a Star Trek like place in Japanese culture, having spawned multiple sequals and many imitators.Gundam moved the "giant robot genre" out of the giant robot superheros area and into the "giant robots as war machines of the future" mode. This book is part of the continuing story of what happens when children at an obscure research post find themselves pressed into service as child soldiers. This particular book starts as Amuro, the main character, is not handling it well and has taken off with the war machine he operates.I enjoyed it as much as the others in this series. The art is good. The characters work. There's more giant robot battles than I'm normally looking for in fiction, but honestly, it's a war story. What should I expect?
