Good solid read for youth

It all started with a late night phone call. Albert Tub, a short, orange family man from planet Wampetter answered the phone and was told he had just won second place in a contest. And what a prize it is - two weeks in California on planet Earth. The Tub family is in a strange enough situation on such an alien planet as Earth but when they find a wampetter sacred text in California everything really gets out of hand.
