EXCELLENT START TO 12 STORIES!

Now let us see. Slow beginnig? necessary to set a plot for a 12 book series. Let the stories begin.Alicia Corbin is brillant, untutored in the ways of a man, woman relationship although knowledgable. Then we meet Jonah, the head of SPEAR - someone is trying to discredit him and take him down [probably destroying SPEAR with him]. Jonah feels that he can trust Easton Kirby because he has been out of the loop for about ten years and Alicia's job was to intice East into helping Jonah short of using sex.During those ten years East had adopted a fourteen year old tough kid, Jeff and made him his son. Of course events esculate when Jeff is kidnapped [which turns out to be a costly mistake by Jonah's nemisis] as now East is on the prowl. He manipulates Jonah into supplying him with the necessary means to rescue Jeff. With the help of Alicia's brilliant deductions.[The only problem I felt was that there was not enough paranoia and suspicion on the part of East and Alicia for spy agents.]In the rescue of Jeff [grin - loved that part] they did learn the operative name - SIMON - the man apparently after Jonah.Ah yes, Jeff was taken to the Militia compound of the Brotherhood of Blood - run by Caleb Carpenter. [read to find out where].For those of you who have not followed the collecting of this series - I will lead you to the next book and so on. Look of #2 -- UNDERCOVER BRIDE by Kylie Brant - the story of Caleb Carpenter and another agent of SPEAR.So far so good -- Highly Recommended --M

Good beginning

Sharon Sala gets the Year of Living Dangerously off to a good start in Mission: Irresistible. I loved East and I eventually came to like Alicia, even if she was another stunningly beautiful model-type whose also a genius. Guess we can't have a plain genius heroine. The beginning was a little slow but I didn't care because I enjoyed the characters so much. Ms. Sala did a great job setting up the SPEAR agency. This book is the only one of the SPEAR books I've read so far to take advantage of all the Mission: Impossible-type possibilities this series offers. I thought the whole idea of the van was great. This was a good beginning that left me wanting to read more of the series.

Good beginning for a new series

I have always enjoyed Sharon Sala/Dinah McCalls's books and this was no exception. Here we have the first installment (of twelve) for a new series dealing with SPEAR, a secret agency. Alicia Corbin has been recruited by Jonah, the enigmatic SPEAR chief, to bring back Easton Kirby, who now runs a resort where weary SPEAR agents go get some R & R. Jonah is being framed, and he believes it's someone inside SPEAR, so his only choice is to go to former agent East, who wants nothing to do with the assignment.Alicia is a brilliant agent, a genius whose IQ is off the scale, but she's not comfortable flirting or charming a man into doing anything, so she is puzzled at her assignment. How can she convince this cold, distant man to help Jonah when he barely speaks to her?In truth, East and Alicia are mutually attracted from the beginning, although he is angry when Alicia's true mission is revealed, but soon there is something even more important that needs their skills and attention. East's son Jeff has been kidnapped, and the stakes have become even higher.I really enjoyed this book, Sharon has a way with creating true emotional connections between her characters and this was no exception - I look forward to other SPEAR books, especially the last one, which will also be written by Sharon.

Excellent start of a new series

Sharon Sala begins a new sub-series to the Intimate Moments line with Mission: Irresistible. In this installment, ex-SPEAR agent, Easton Kirby is compelled to assist Agent Alicia Corbin in her endeavor to save the head of the SPEAR organization whom no one has ever seen and very few should know about. Jonah, as he is called, is actually a series of men who adopt the name and the accompanying anonymity. This particular Jonah finds himself being threatened by someone who knows of his existence and knows his identity. He sends Alicia to persuade East to assume an active status. East is very reluctant to do so and though the guilt sits heavily upon him, he refuses to assist until his son is kidnapped. For the sake of his son, he will get involved and help Jonah along the way.Sala gives a good and steady start to this new series: A Year of Loving Dangerously. Alicia is a strong and dedicated agent who is also terribly naive when it comes to matters of the heart. But her instincts are right on the mark when it comes to deducing, rather quickly, that Easton Kirby will mean more to her than she could ever imagine. East finds himself falling fast, and irrevocably, in love with the woman who is determined to help him save his son as well as Jonah. Though the book spans a very short amount of time, consistent interaction between East and Alicia kept the relationship between the two moving progressively and this, I thought, was very admirable considering the time constraint when it came to saving East's son. I look forward to pursuing this series because it has an interesting premise which doesn't directly involve the main characters in each story but results, indirectly, in bringing them together.

Simply Irresistible!

To have Ms. Sala launch the series for "A Year of Loving Dangerously" by Silhouette (Intimate Moments)was a wise decision made by the editors. Although, the story is not a full-pledged thriller, readers will be kept entertained by the interaction between the hero and heroine, Easton "East" Kirby and Alicia "Ally" Corbin, respectively, both operatives for SPEAR ( a top secret agency headed by a man no one sees). It's a toned down "Mission Impossible" with a good dose of romance and comedy in between.
