Antioxidants are generally used in dietary supplements and have been researched for the prevention of diseases, such as cancer, coronary heart disease, and even altitude sickness. These are the substances that will secure our cells against free radicals, which are basically liable for the previously mentioned maladies. Free radicals are molecules produced when your body breaks down food or when we expose to tobacco smoke or radiation and so on. Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E and carotenoids, may help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Other naturally occurring antioxidants include flavonoids, tannins, phenols, and lignans. Plant-based foods are the best sources.
