Fabulous book!

I've read this book about 5 times, starting from when I was 23 years old and floudering around in the business world trying to figure out what I could do for a living.... making about about 1/5 of what I do today, 8 years later. Steven Scott meshes practical skills and advice with actual step by step activities to do to immediately put what he's saying into action in your own life. He's the genius behind such products as Richard Simmon's "Deal a Meal", Suzanne Sommer's "Thigh Master", and Christie Brinkley & Chuck Norris' "Total Gym". Extremely easy reading by a man who has done it. It's like having a personal coach who is a multi-millionare at your side telling you how to do it. I recommend it to anyone of any age.

Excellent Book! Excellent Author! FIVE STARS? & THEN SOME!

Having read numerous books on marketing, motivation & success ... and having risen to the top of my own industry armed with the knowledge from many of the fine books I've read, I can clearly & unequivocally state that Mr. Scott has a gift. In his book, he not only reveals (in simple terms) the things we need to do in order to bring happiness & success into our lives ... he does it in a way that can be easily understood by anyone.I'm appalled by the negative criticism given by .... He wrote "A Landmark Business Book... NOT". Following is an e-mail I sent to this negative critic after reading his inaccurate criticism:Dear ...,Although Mr. Scott's book may not have hit a home run with you, I beg to differ. As an entrepreneur of eighteen years myself, I owe much of my own success to the plethora of inspiring and insightful books written on marketing and success which I have been fortunate enough to read over the years. I agree with you that there may be books written by individuals who focus more keenly on motivation; however, a lot of these same folks (such as Anthony Robins, etc.) build their entire careers around their abilities to write motivational books, tapes & give seminaries, (as this is their sole means to obtaining their own financial freedom). Mr. Scott on the other hand provides very simple and pragmatic advise, which I know will be helpful to large numbers of individuals who seek this kind of easy to grasp knowledge. I know many of my own employees and friends will benefit. I offer you my three following rebuttals:1. I am grateful anytime I can get my hands on a book written by a successful individual willing to impart his or her own formula for success. Especially when I know the book was not written purely as a means for the author to make money!2. I appreciate reading new & original material. It disappoints me every time I read a new book, only to find that the author has copied Napoleon Hill, or some other author.3. It's difficult to argue with success!...

How a loser turned into a multi-million dollar winner

If you are a current home- or small-business owner who needs and wants to learn a powerful marketing formula, or if you are a W-2 wage earner who is discovering that you are more than what you have become, I highly recommend you purchase this book and study it many times over. The author is a great example of how a below average person can dramatically become extraordinary by following a few simple principles, shifting their paradigm just a little, and following a simple marketing formula that can be applied to any situation, whether business or personal.I can personally relate to the author. I was a virtual nobody in high school. I failed a required class and didn't graduate with my high-school class, but instead got my diploma in the mail after retaking my failed class during Summer. I attended a Jr. college only to drop out mid-semester to join the military (McDonald's would't hire me). 12 years later, I'm a college grad (BS in Info Sys) and working as a software tester for the leading tax software company in the U.S. I have also founded several small businesses in the past and I've just recently launched a new business using the principles given in this book for my personal use. I've also used Scott's successful and proven marketing formula to develop and market my business' services. Other than with "The Magic of Thinking Big", Scott's book, "A Millionaire's Notebook" is a book that I have done more than just bought--I truly "own" this book.Highly recommended. A solid 5 star rating.

Content Good but needs a little less marketing analysis

Steve Scott was one of those men who seemed to be drifting, in his early life. This book chronicals his drift and failures in great detail. It shows warts and all. It should give most people a sense, that, I'm Surely Not As Bad As That. By detailing his many failures he shows, that anyone can turn their life around and create success. From this standpoint, YOU CAN TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND, type of inspiration, I award it 5 stars. But and I must say it is a big but, much of the content of this book is a Masters Degree Course in Marketing and the in's and out's of producing and creating INFO-COMMERCIALS. Quite what this type of treatise on marketing analysis, has to do with success beats me.I cannot call this book a clear blue print for success. If you want that buy; Success is not an Accident by Tommy Newberry, or The Simple Way to Success by Larry Winget. Both these books beat this book hands down. It is not a Think and Grow Rich type of book either. This book must be bought on the merit that it is an honest account of an ordinary life, and how an ordinary debt ridden life can be turned around. It is an inspirational book, and as far as that goes it is awarded 5 stars. On any other criteria, this book would get 2 to 3 stars, as it can be way off subject, if a blue print for success is what you are looking for. There are better books on the subject, but this book is worth reading.

Great book for Corporate Drones who want to start a business

If you find yourself being able to relate all to well to the characters in the Dilbert comic strip, this book may be for you. The inventor of the infomercial, Steve Scott is a self-made multi-millionaire. But if you were to look at his resume for the first five years after he graduated from college, you would never have guessed it to be possible. He went through nine different jobs in six years, and on one occasion was told by his boss "You'll never succeed in marketing. You're fired! Clean out your desk right now." The book is full of hope and old fashioned business ideals and principles. Being a marketing guru, Scott has not failed to include lots of his marketing secrets. My personal favorite was "salting your communication" (want to know what it is? read page 180). At the end of each chapter, he has included a summary of insights and laws for achieving success, followed by a series of tasks you can immediately begin applying to your life. The book is a quick read, and offers great p
