I started reading this to my 6 year old daughter, and she talked about it so much that the entire family now listens in. We have been studying American history and visiting Jamestown, Williamsburgh, etc. This series brings it to life by allowing you to experience a real frontier family's experiences. It also does all this through the eyes a young girl who is a strong believer who relies on her faith and her knowledge of God's Word to get her through the tough life of a frontier family. It shows kids how valuable faith can be in the life of a young person, especially during periods of trial. Their family is against slavery, but Millie must stay on a slave owning plantation with her uncle due to an illness. We are about to start this phase of her life and can't wait to see how that goes...
