Nine kinds of milk snakes dwell in the United States and Canada. Students will learn about the different characteristics of these bright, colorful, and harmless snakes. They will discover that milk snakes and king snakes are part of the same snake family called Colubridae. They will also learn that milk snakes use their tricolored skin for defense, and if they are alarmed they will hiss and shake their tail to try to frighten predators away.
