Howard Weinstein is bright but "small for his age." He has recently moved to a new school and has not made any friends. He is beset by bullies who make his life miserable. Howard's favorite TV show is "Mighty Boy" and watching the program is the best part of his day. Howard daydreams and lives in a fantasy Might Boy world. When he wins a contest to meet Mighty Boy and appear in an episode he has an opportunity to become a hero in his own right. TV characters do take on a life of their own in some children's imaginations. Kids will identify with Howard. A nice read, especially for boys!

No, it's Mighty Wimp!"Howard Weinstein,the main character in Mighty Boy, is a lonely 5th grader who has no real friends. He just moved to New York from California. There he had friends, but here he feels like an alien. What makes it worse is Eddie, the bully at school, always picks on Howard. Every day at 4:00, Howard escapes his lonely world by watching Mighty Boy. Mighty Boy is a very strong super hero boy on TV, and Howard dreams about being as powerful as Mighty Boy. Being powerful would change Howard's life. He would have lots of friends and Eddie wouldn't bully him any more. One day Howard finds out that there will be a drawing and whoever wins gets to go on the show with Mighty Boy. Will Howard win? Will his dreams come true? I really liked this book because it was funny and full of adventure. If you like adventurous and humorous books, you will like Mighty Boy. END
