Yes there was the Valium. You're not supposed to mix it with margaritas, but Solange needed a mental break from her recent career-determining audition for the local all-harp orchestra - just as night sweats were becoming de rigueur, her 900-line Tarot business was getting weird, and her lovers were mostly in her dreams.

The afterlife held secrets and also her late husband, Paul-Michel. She drifted into it as her friends sang Amazing Grace waiting for the ambulance. Paul-Michel was actually not mad at her as she had thought. He was glad to see her, but as often happens, she was directed back to earth to take care of something important, although it was not clear what.

Was it Freida May, her toothless diabetic cat that had followed her into the afterlife and then back to earth again? Was it indeed her harp playing? She got the idea from somewhere that the soothing sounds of a glissando could alter people's DNAs for the better. Perhaps heal the world. Or was it the well-being of her 900-line clients with their poltergeist emergencies and missing spouses.

This is the story of how Solange, at 52, lets go of her tequila shots, her bags of frozen peas she had to put on her forehead to keep from burning up, and especially Carlos who kept calling her Delores in his sleep on the occasional hook-up.

Actually, she doesn't totally let go of the tequila shots, but she had perfect pitch and got great pleasure waking up every day knowing the note A and how to inject insulin into Freida May. Her Tarot line patients seemed to need her.

Will Solange, a recovering aging flower-child, be able to decipher the clues from the afterlife and try to stay sane? Will she be able to live one day at a time by gleaning spiritual insights from old Broadway show tunes? Will Paul-Michel be upset about Carlos? Will she be able to save all animals and glissando the earth into the green garden she used to think it was?
