Jay Scott: An inspiring and deeply knowledgeable film critic
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 14 years ago
Jay Scott's knowledge of film and his love of movies comes across very clearly in this fine collection of his work. An American who left the U.S. for Canada during the Vietnam War, he became a well-known critic in his adopted country. It was my privilege to publish the American edition of this first collection of his writings. Tragically Scott was lost in the AIDS-tsunami which swept so many away in the late 1980s. Sadly, the books we planned that he would write about Gloria Grahame and Dinah Washington were not to be. So this brilliant volume is his legacy of what a fine writer and astute movie lover he was. Any student or lover of film will find some wonderful reading in MIDNIGHT MATINEES.
