Midnight Emotions is a collection of freestyle poetry from 2022-2023. Included are ninety five poems that cover romance, PTSD, anxiety, spirituality and random musings, an accumulation of work which this book ties together. This book is the first in the Midnight Emotions series from an aspiring poet.
Midnight Emotions came from a turbulent period of V.M. Holiday's life, the author attempted to explore various themes in the form of poetry. The poems "An Ode to my Job, 'Brick' and 'Muddy', were particular pieces that covered the stress of being in a job that caused mental health distress at the time of writing. Turning those thoughts and feelings into poetry helped the release of those emotions therapeutically.
The poem 'Just be Cheerful' is written as a tongue in cheek response to those uber positive messages meaning to uplift and inspire. Written at a time early on in year while going through distress, positive and uplifting seemed to be just too much to take.
'Prisoner of Authority' and 'Outrage' are poems that try to illicit images of upheaval of society and damage that is being done. 'Outrage' in particular is. poem that articulates the frustration on social issues that appear to have no end in sight. These poems are important and need a voice to raise awareness of these issues at hand and hopefully have meaningful discussions over them.
"Guardian Angels' is a poetic saga of the imagination and intended as a story told in the form of a poem. Included in the collection for diversity and change of pace.
