This workbook will cover the features of Power BI Web Service (Power BI Pro) which is a web-based tool that provides cloud services over the Internet to post and view Reports and Dashboards. Individual Visual Reports (Charts) are created using the Power BI Desktop tool which is installed on your local computer. Once you develop Visual Reports in Power BI Desktop, then you can publish these Visual Reports to build Dashboards in the Power BI Web Service. These tools work together to describe your data sources. The DAX program language is built into Power BI to customize information and create a unique result. DAX is similar to Excel formulas, but also has some SQL database elements. The following topics will be covered: Overview - First, an overview of the interface and the menu system will be provided. This will enable users to switch between the different modules (described below) in order to develop a Dashboard. You can create an App which is a custom interface that contains a specific set of charts and graphs to communicate your message.Dataset - This is used to store the uploaded database to the Power BI Web Service and we will demonstrate how to create new Visual Reports (Charts) from the Dataset. The Dataset can be automatically refreshed on a scheduled basis which will also update your Visual Reports and Dashboards.Report Workspace - This will display the Visual Reports created in Power BI Desktop as well as those created from the Dataset in the Power BI Web Service tool. These include Clustered Column Charts, Pie Charts, Cards to display total values, Tables of Summarized data, Matrix reports, Maps, etc.Dashboard - This is the layout of different types of Visual Reports arranged together to provide a message for readers. When you click on a Dashboard, it is linked to the Reports Workspace.Edit Report - Additional elements can be added to Visual Reports such as Titles, Navigation Buttons, Shapes, and Filters.Workbooks - This will allow you to upload an Excel Workbook into Power BI Web Service.Settings - There are adjustments that can be made to the interface in order to provide additional functionality. You will be able to set Alerts when the data changes, Subscriptions will email screenshots of your Report or Dashboard page whenever the data changes, and an Automatic Refresh schedule can be set up 8 times a day.DAX Formula Overview - This will explain the terms, basic structure, and common development techniques of DAX. Also included in the overview, is how to create New Columns in a table, custom calculations known as Measures, as well as New Tables.DAX Reference - We will discuss in detail the unique characteristics of DAX that allows custom filtering as well as the ability to ignore applied filters.
