Use it for what it is designed for and it's great!

After studying for the server test from multiple study books, I picked up the according readiness review since I found the workstation readiness review to be quite good as my final *review*. To my joy, I also found the server readiness review to be quite good. These books were never intended to be a sole study book for the test nor does Microsoft try to pass them as such. What does it say on the cover! Readiness *Review*! Not Study Guide. When used as a Study Guide, I can totally see why people come up short, because that's not what it is designed for. People that use this book as such are doing themselves little good getting certifications and not being able to perform in the real world since they have no real knowledge or experience. When used appropriately as a review of questions that are from Microsoft, same guys that make the real test, I find it very much worth the money. Even if the questions were a little off from what the real test has, fine with me, if I pass just goes to show that I really know my stuff and just not reguritating(sorry if it's spellt wrong) stuff I memorized in a few short days before writing a test. I'm taking my Server test in three days, and I for one am going to be able to show that I really know Windows NT inside and out, like a real Microsoft Certified Professional should. Seperate yourself from the wannabes and learn your stuff for real.A+,Network+,MCP

An Excellent Book When Used Properly

Some readers seem to be confused about what a "Readiness Review" is. To pass an exam, you first learn the material in one or ideally more ways--read a book, take a course, use the product(s) in question, and gain some real-world experience. After you develop a general proficiency, and just before taking the exam, you review the material to confirm the scope of your knowledge. Ideally, the review will refocus your preparation, systematically cover all of the topic areas of the exam, and give you practice thinking about the test topics. This pre-test review is the focus of Mr. Wilansky's book, and as such, it does the job splendidly, covering all of the published topics, and even uncovering useful information for seasoned NT Server implementers. I must add that several readers seem to have missed the point of this book: First, Wilansky's Windows NT Server 4.0 Readiness Review should not be the first or only resource you use for the exam, even if you consider yourself familiar with Windows NT Server 4.0. Second, if you used the Networking Essentials Readiness Review as your primary resource and passed the Networking Essentials test, you may not have the same success with Windows NT Server 4.0 because of differences in the course material, not because of the books. Networking Essentials is primarily conceptual, whereas NT Server 4.0 is both conceptual and detailed. Preparing for Exam 70-067 is challenging, and Ethan Wilansky's Windows NT Server 4.0 MCSE Readiness Review is a fast, systematic final review---just what you need in your arsenal to do well on the exam, and put your knowledge to work in practical situations on the job.

Do you want to pass?

This alone won't get you by, but if you understand what the major concepts presented in the questions are then you will succeed. I used this to prepare me for the Server test and got 860. The questions presented cover all the areas you need to study and should know. Not just to pass the test, but to actually apply your knowledge. If you just want to be a paper MCSE, than I don't think this will help. Get a good technical book like Carter's Windows NT 4.0 MCSE study guide, the transcenders, and top it off with this book and you should know what you are doing. The exam cram series helps too . You will need a well rounded approach to get all the info about making the most of these certifications, (I know everyone is making $$ out of this), but we all want to get certified and make the big bucks ourselves. IF you want a little more preparation then get the book. The CD is great also. For this series,the CDs are sometimes better than the book.

Second time a book in this series helped me pass.

This is a great book. It helps give the nuances of how MS words their questions and gives you an idea of what they are looking for. It also helped hammer home a couple of concepts I was having trouble with. The book is all questions and answers, but it tells you why an answer was right and the others were wrong. As far as testing method goes, just remember that adaptive testing just means the number and difficulty of the questions you get depends on how you well or poorly you have answered the previous questions. The content and style of the questions are basically the same as the non-adaptive test, which this book reflects. I took the adaptive test Saturday and passed with some room to spare. Studying with this book definitely helped. I have already ordered the one for Enterprise, my next test.

If you pass this exam with 850, you are more than ready!!

Good pre-test to see if you are ready for the real test. Each question discusses the answers and why each is right or wrong. CD Rom has a 60 question subset of the book's questions. Don't memorize these questions and answers; try to understand the material. My score on this test, the sample tests on microsoft.com, and the actual exam were within 0.5% of each other. Again, use this to see if you are ready, not as your only study material.
