Native rock art 101

This is a book brief on the orientation of Native American rock art. William did a good job to explain for understanding the rock art motifs. He listed eleven reasons in why the ancient artists made the art creation for posterity. He classified the two kinds of art: pictograph and petroglyph in the creation methods. It is simple to comprehend the meaning of the art with drawings and text based on his collection and observation. Of interest were his collection of turtle and thunderbird, both of which are in Chinese myth. On page 56, he mentioned horse in rock art after the White Man. Actually, the Piaute tribe bordering California and Oregon in the small Museum near Pyramid Lake displayed a horse head fossil, meaning America had horse before White Man. Based on Dr. John Ruskamp research, he discovered some very ancient Chinese Oracle Bone script from California to Arizona and Utah. This book may motivate readers to explore more in field trips.
