Book Overview

There is a world that mirrors our own. Everything in this world is made of substance finer than air, finer than light, finer than thought itself--the aether. In the aether, inner sensations are as... This description may be from another edition of this product.

An Essential Text For Increasing Awareness and Visualisation

This book is very dense in information and exercises. I was impressed at how my memory and visualization skills improved by using one of the detailed methods for image recall/ability to observe and recall small details/ use mind's eye to receive psychic information. A very interesting, exciting, and useful guide for improving one's senses and awareness. I will re-read this many times.

A really useful book

These days, my views on matters that are shall we say "Occult" is in a simple duality. 1. There is no "Majick", no spirits, no spells, nothing beyond observable and explainable effects. While science doesn't have "All" the answers, it is the best way and at least when it describes something it does it in a way that can usually be of practical use, such as electricity, hydraulics, etc... And at the same time 2. It is written on the endless constellations of the celestial heavens and on the depths of the emerald seas and on every grain of sand in the vast deserts that the world which we see is an outward and visible dream of an inward an invisible reality. So, while I won't make any "Claims of the Supernatural" and invite the wrath of Randy Randi, I do strongly suggest this book as a good starting point for those interested in exploring a hidden world. If you don't like this subject, fine, plenty of "Real Science" out there which I like also. But, remember, Newton himself was reading a book on Alchemy when he encountered that "Apple" inspiration thing... The best feature of this book is it's focus; The mind. No casting spells, no calls to spirits positive or otherwise for powers to hurt enemies or grant wishes, no ridiculous supernatural belief systems and bizarre formula to memorize. This book is about the powers that Man already possesses and how to get started in a safe (as safe as possible) way to finding them. It's also printed in a semi "Old School" way with soft pages that are easy to turn and feels good in the hands. For a paperback this book is amazingly well printed, it's not stiff at all but soft and strong and good for many years use or many decades on the shelf. Also, I'll make the bold and also possibly unpopular suggestion of suggesting anyone with a charitable mind donate this book to a library. Most librarians hate this, but the "Supernatural" takes up a lot of resources. It's popular, the books are requested frequently, checked out frequently and worse stolen/lost/destroyed frequently. They take up valuable resources since most libraries are under strict bureaucracy to only get non-donated books through various "Official" channels that cost several times full retail. So donating "Supernatural" books to a library helps for they can get a large selection there and save their resources for science, literature, education and such. This book is good for it'll last a long time on their shelves and as I said earlier it's a more "Safe" approach to matters supernatural than many other things on the shelves. "Von Daniken's" books are still VERY popular/hated by librarians this way, so if you are by a used bookstore and the guy has a box of them he's thinking of trashing, dropping them at the library will really help...even if they lecture you for half a day on how the "Space Gods" stuff is pure "Kook"...

the Psychic experimenter's handbook

we were visiting some relatives near Atlanta... dear explorers of the astral realms, ... and found this book in a metaphysical bookstore there (we love visiting metaphysical bookstore wherever we go) and something about this book called to us. We kept looking at it and wandering around the store and then coming back to it again. It is rather a compendium of everything to do with learning to use psychic power, astral travel (or what Jung would call Active Imagination), and the types of beings you may meet on the astral planes. It gives practical exercises to help you throughout and is wonderfully illustrated. It is somewhat a beginner's book, so if you've already read a number of books on these subjects, you're unlikely to find much new here. Still, in spite of that, we enjoyed this book and its very down to earth, practical approach to the subject. kyela, the silver elves

Awesome book

It's a very concise book for the most part. The only thing that i would have liked to see is some resources so that the reader can do their own research and draw any conclusions they might have. The information about the phantom hounds was interesting, although there was no specific instruction on how one might attract/summon said hound. Would be interesting, don't you think? The exercises designed to develop awareness of our surroundings is the most important to me, because i feel that many people walk around in a sort of trance and it seems that they have a hard time externalizing awareness and noticing what's going on around you. We miss too much. These exercises can help a person notice when someone intends to do them harm or is attracted to them. The exercises on astral projection are informative, however, for most people who don't have a clue as to the working of the conscious, subconcious, and super conscious minds ( edgar Cayce, Huna), then astral projection is a hit or miss thing. Overall, it's a good book and for anyone that wants to TURLY understand that book and put the information to use for your own purposes, whatever they may be, then you'll want to check out a few books that sort of Phil in the blanks: "The laws of psychic phenomenon" By Thompson Jay hudson Anything By CW leadbeater and Annie Besant Anything by Donna Eden (more information on the chakras/aetheric links) Anything By Frank Randolp Young(Psychic/mental influence) Anything by Walter William Atkinson In addition to the resources above, there's a wealth of scientific research that validates psychic influence and the existence of the chakras, two books that come to mind immediately are: 1) Experiments in distant influence 2) Experiments in mental suggestion There are countless other resources out there for you to study. Overall, it's a good read and there's lots of useful information, especially the breathing meditation, which is essential to performing the experiments/tasks in the book. Cheers, Amir

Such a clever book

This book struck me as something Harry Potter might have tucked away in his backpack at Hogwarts. It was purposely written in a charming, arcane style perfectly fitting of the subject matter. The illustrations, also, are brilliant. Yet beyond this pleasant presentation, the book is also quite meaty, delivering much information on the paranormal and specifically, astral dynamics. I enjoyed it quite a lot and recommend it to anyone interested in this subject matter.
