wonderful memoir

i stumbled on to Lisa St.Aubin De Teran's book, valley in italy in a used book store and have read everything i can get my hands on since. Memory Maps is by far the best memoir of hers, it is well thought out and concise. Memory maps gave me insight into why she became a wrtiter and why she is so passionate about travel. I loved visiting so many remote places, I found myself jealous over and over again as i sat reading on my lunch break with a nine to five job! It must be amazing to take off for a remote island for six months or travel to africa to a place she couldn't even find on her atlas! wow! Above all, I have found myself completely addicted to her writing style, to her family and their adventures. Each book I have read gives me more and more details that for some reason leave me wanting even more. I would recommend this book as it stands or read it third: Hacienda first, Valley in Italy next and this as the third memoir to complete her story (up to present that is). I am hoping she will write a fourth memoir, I need to know how Isuelt, Alex, Florence are doing. Certainly she has had more adventures, that is a given.

Spirited and Strong

It should be compulsory to read this book. The author is fascinating and her life extraordinary. It makes me want to do greater things with my life, to live my life more interestingly, and lets me escape the doldrums of the everyday.I thorougly recommend this book. My first encounter with Ms St Aubin de Teran was with "The Hacienda", which is read at least three times a year.If you shelter a sensitive, adventurous spirit, READ THIS BOOK.
