Melissa

In "Melissa", a young girl named Melissa Bailey learns an important lesson on how she should treat friends and family. Her mother told her that they were moving to a small village outside of London. Melissa is very upset by this news and tells her mother that she is only thinking of herself. Melissa has to cope with a new school and tries to make friends. Everyone that she meets makes fun of her because her mom is a priest. After school a lady comes by the house named Connie Jupp. Connie comes to the house to help out with cleaning and hems Melissa's skirt for her. Later that evening Melissa walks Connie's dog Barnaby, and meets a boy named Matt Carter. The next day she decides to show off her new looks at school, but gets in trouble for it. Melissa tells her mom that she was just trying to make a statement and get noticed and that she will never do it again. Later on in the story Mrs. Bailey lets her son, Danny, get a pet rat, When Melissa finds out about this she gets very upset and says it's not fair and that she deserves to keep Barnaby. Her mother doesn't agree at first but later on decides that it would make Melissa a lot more happier and adopts the dog for her. One afternoon Melissa meets a girl named Kirstie and they become immediate friends. Kirstie and Melissa talk to each other daily on the bus. Kirstie asks Melissa to spend the day with her that saturday but Melissa already has plans with a few girls at school to go to London for the day and shop, She knows that the school girls wouldn't accept Melissa if she brought Kirstie with them to shop so Melissa makes up a lie and tells Kirstie that she has visitors staying with her that day. As Melissa is shopping, she looses her purse and decides to go get some money from the hotel where her father is staying at. When she arrives at the hotel she finds her father and another women kissing and leaves in digust to go home. When Melissa arrives home she finds that her father was on the same train as she was and ends up telling her mom of the affair in front of Mr. Bailey. While Mr. and Mrs. Bailey talk out what happened, Melissa goes to get her brother from his horse riding lessons. When she arrives she lets Baranby off of his leash and he runs in the field where the horses are and scares the horse that Danny was on. Danny ends up getting knocked off the horse and has to be rushed to the hospital. He ends up going home later on. That night Mrs. Bailey asks Melissa why she lied to Kirstie and tells her that Kirstie had come over while she was shopping and was very upset. In the end of the novel Kirstie and Matt Carter start to date. Melissa's older brother Ben starts to date a girl named Vicki. Kirstie's parents find out that they are going to have a child. And Melissa and Kirstie become friends again. This book was very interesting. It kept me reading constantly. I think the author did a very good job, but she should have had Melissa start to date Matt inst

MELISSA IS INDEPENDENT GIRL, & NOT AFRAID OF SHOWING IT

MELISSA IS A MAD TEENAGER BECAUSE HER MOM HAS SUCH A EMBARSSING JOB, AND THEY MOVE TO THE MIDDLE OF NOW WHERE. BUT PAIN CAN TURN OUT GOOD, SHE GETS IN THE "IN" CROUD AND METS A CUTE GUY. IT'S SUCH A GREAT BOOK ABOUT GOING THROUGH PRESSURE THAN FINALLY TURNS GOOD.

"Melissa"- sophisticated city girl gone country!

Rosie Rushton's newest book tells the tale of Melissa, a sophisticated city girl. When her mother announces that they are moving to the country so she can work as a priest, Melissa gets angry. The book tells of Melissa's struggles, some involving choosing her friends and a cute guy who is her brother's friend. This book is NOT about Poppy's sister, Melissa, from "Poppy", but instead tells the tale of a different girl. Contradictory to the other books in this series, "Melissa" does not involve Poppy, Livi or Sophie. An excellent boook if you're looking for a good read!

Good but not best

This book was overall good. Not the best though. It is about Melissa, Poppys sister and how she thinks about popy and everyone else. Also how dhe deals with all the poppy-is-perfect thing.
