THirteen-year-old melanie graham was sent to kentucky to live with her aunt and uncles. she is devestent about it, she swears that she will not ride or get attach to any horse there after her fav. horse got killed well melanie was riding him in new york when she was not suposed too.She stuggled for a way to fit in,in kentucky. She does not get a long with her cousin christina then she met pirate treasure,he is very unpredictalbe and dangerous.I don't want to tell u anymore!I thought this was a wicked good book b/c it shows that melanie really cares about pirate!I have to say that i do miss joanna campbell but the new authers are pretty good to.i have 1-51 i found out that cindy moved to belmont!champion is in dubai after ashliegh sold him b/c he kicked her by misteak and killed her baby, that we heard about in the end of 23,i dont know what happen to heather and max but if i find out i will add it

Unknown Champion

Melanie's Treasure is my favorite Thoroughbred book. Everyone thinks Mel knows nothing about horses, but she does. She workes some miracles with a horse named Pirate Treasure, and they instantly bond. The trainer, Ian McLean, puts Pirate out to pasture because he bumped 2 mares, one on the track and one in workouts. Then they decide to geld him. In the end, Melanie discoveres that he is blind! I love this book because the outcome is always surprising.

DA BOMB!

This books was one of my favorites. i read almost every book inthe series and loved them all. but in 13 and up the magic of thisseries went down hill. Mrs. Bently's writing is ok but i loved Joanna Campbell's. All right, now before i start boring ya i will get back to the book. as i said i loved the book. pirate is the best. he and wonder's star are my fav,(wonder's star was in 36 and up). If i were mel than i would have been alittle more.... well, kinder torwad whitebrook...END

great story

I really loved this book. If I were Melanie, I would probably feel like trash. I can relate to the way Melanie feels when she leaves New York. I think this book was well written with a good plot.

OKAY GUYS WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!!!!

This was a great book. If you like Karen Bently's books better, than you need to take a good look at your self. Cindy was a selfish, snobby, brat and I can see why the new author dosen't want her. She had about FOUR "favorite" horses. I don't like the fact that Samantha's gone, but it's hard to take over a series like this. At least she stayed with horse racing on this one. She can write about relationships very well, like with Melanie and Christina. She BLOWS KAREN BENTLY right out of the water and comes close(but not quite) to Joanna Campbell. It seems a lot of you haven't realized Joanna Campbell stopped writting at #14. That's when the books went down hill. Come on, this book is written much better than ANY of Bentley's book. It'll be great as long as she sticks to horse racing. I really like Melanie. At least she's human and not perfect with no problems at all like the snob Cindy. Cindy's the one who ruined the books. Why don't you all read the book again without having it stuck in your head that it's bad BEFORE you read it. Give Estes a chance. Could you do any better? If anyone wants to e-mail me, go right ahead.
