Book Contains some very nice pieces. Not for the beginner, quite fast paced (as you'd expect with jigs and the like). Music is all quite low notes (compared to most flute music I play), sitting mostly on the three to four lower stave lines. Some quite tricky fingering, particularly on the grace (fairy) notes, but worth figuring out. The book comes with a CD of some of the pieces. The CD itself is a little unusual in that most 'play along' varieties separate the pieces out so you can hear each individual piece (so if you have trouble reading the timing of the notes, you can cheat a little), this CD groups three or four pieces together, flowing into one another, (not titled). Also a bit 'irish' in that they are not consecutive pieces in the book (ie one piece may be at the back of the book, the next at the front, the third smack bang in the middle). The book is laid out in order of playing ease. So there is quite a bit of page flicking involved if you want to play the pieces per CD. Basically if you are trying to cheat and play by ear rather than read the music, you will be in for a challenge. Which really sums up the book. A good challenge for the intermediate player (oh did I mention it was fun).
