Maisie Marks has had an extraordinary life (so far). Born to a struggling Jewish family in North London, she was the first in the family to go to university, but had to leave after only one year because of family pressure and cost. After starting as a shorthand typist and secretary, she was able to climb the ranks in the male-dominated world of advertising to become the Managing Director and then owner of a media company. Leading a profitable business was not sufficient for this lady. She joined several professional and charitable organizations, chairing several. She was recognized for all of these accomplishments with the grant of an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honors List. Maisie was also the partner of a successful financial executive, the mother of a senior corporate executive and a renowned professor, and is the proud grandmother of a partner in a law firm. This is her story, as told by her to her elder son.
