Refreshing New Approach To Meditation

I have taken several meditation classes through the years. Mostly I was taught to quite my mind and vacate my body. True these techniques are restful, however after hundreds of hours of meditation, that was all I was able to accomplish - feeling rested. I ran across this book one day and decided to read it. I discovered a fresh approach to mediation. I finally understood what centering actually means, and how to really ground and release old energy. Rather than having no body connection, I was fully connected and running my own energy! I still felt refreshed after a meditation session using these techniques, however, I am beginning to truly understand myself as soul and body, and that is really what I had been trying to accomplish. The results have been amazing, and fast. If you are looking to realize yourself as a soul with a human form, I highly, highly, recommend you get this book and start practicing these techniques.

Meditation: Key to self-empowerment!

Before I read this book I was of the impression that in order to Meditate I had to empty my mind of all thought and reach some level of heighthened exsistence. Well, that's impossible! I have an active mind with alot of questions, and the techniques that Mary Ellen Flora defines in this book were just what I was looking for! She guides the reader through simple techniques that empower, and heal. I use many of the techniques she describes in this book in my every day life. I recommend this book to anyone who has an honest desire to heal themselves and take control of their lives. If you are a person who wants others to heal you, and likes playing the victim, then this book is not for you. It is for the seekers of truth, and self-empowerment. If that's you- then this book may be just what you're looking for.

Works for me!

The grounding and centering information in this book makes sense on so many levels. If only more people would ground and center before they get in their vehicles, imagine how much different driving on I-5 would be! I recommend this book to everyone. Once they read it, perhaps more objective reviews can be posted. We all still have the right to choose, so exercise your right to buy this book. Or not. If you choose to buy it, you may be surprised at how little you spent to learn so much.

Meditation for the Masses

I have to say meditation was not something I ever would have thought i'd make a part of my life. It was for those new age, vegetarian, yoga people you saw in healthfood stores. However, after having been introduced to these books by a friend of mine who had a very positive experience with them, I was willing to at least learn a little more about it. When i searched online, to get different perspectives, boy was I overwhelmed! It seemed that everyone and their brother had an opinion about the 'right' way of meditating, what meditating was for, what it was supposed to accomplish, etc etc. I had always thought it was about getting in touch with myself, but aparently according to these people it was by doing things their way. A little dissapointing, i have to say. This book offered me something none of the other ones did. Permission to have my own information! Not only that, it was constantly validating that I am, in fact, the only one who really knows what's right for me. Talk about a powerful statement! It's got amazing insight into the potential of meditation, and some examples of people she's encountered and their choices and experiences, but what I was most impressed by was the simple, engaging way she presented the information. This book is not in your face, it won't beat you over the head with complicated rituals or give you some kind of road map to enlightenment. One thing I've found Mary Ellen seems to grasp better than most people who teach on a spiritual level is that everyone's relationship to spirituality is different, (and here's the kicker) that that's ok! Sounds simple, but not many teachers will admit their way isn't the "right" way. I've been told i'm doing everything from eating, to sleeping, to dressing wrong, depending on who I ask, so it's refreshing to finally get someone who tells me my way is OK. What's more is she gives you techniques you can build on, rather than drown you in information you wouldn't understand anyway. What's the point of making you feel completely incompitant? This book is designed to give you a gateway, to get you started, and to let you create your path from there. The techniques, like any other spiritual information, works for those who want it to work, and believe it will. However, no matter what your religious or spiritual background, these techniques offer you an oppertunity to get to know yourself better, so that you can begin to create your life the way you truely want. How many other spiritual teachers give you that kind of permission?! So for those truely open and interested in healing themselves, and learning how to take control of their realities, i highly reccomend these books!
