Medical Limericks IV is the fourth series of 103 limericks inspired by clinical cases I have observed at Vanderbilt and the VA hospital over my career. The causes of the maladies were often overlooked, leading to misdiagnoses and complications. The scheme of these is fairly true to the classic limerick style. Each makes a good teaching point. Over the last 15 years I have utilized these in lectures in my teaching career at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Special care was taken in the titles, punch lines, and references. It is amazing how much information that one can convey in five lines. If you like these, there are more to come.
