Haven't read yet but in bad condition

I haven't read this book yet, but I was disappointed to see that not only was the cover different than what I ordered, but the book was in poor condition ( the spine is damaged and the cover is dented heavily, not good condition as was advertised) and it's a proof copy, not even the finished book which would be okay with fiction but this is a scientific book that I'd want to make sure was completed to reference it.
