MCTS Self Paced Training Kit: Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Foundation Book/CD Package deals with computers/software. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Already knowing quite a bit the .NET framework, I originally picked this book up with the intention of filling up as much gaps as I could in about 3-4 weeks tops, and then get certified. After about 2 weeks going through it, I rescheduled my tests because there's just so many pearls in it that can not be overlooked. It's not that the content is specially complicated, but how they managed to stuff the book with a collection of useful insights one after the other. I can't wait to get to the 70-562 ASP.NET book!
Few typos, but has given me a solid grounding...

I've read this book cover to cover, and found few typos. I cannot estimate the level of depth that this book is supposed to be because I'm not a .NET expert, but by reading it I learned a lot of things [...] The samples on domains and security are quite advanced for me since I haven't used them and haven't had any projects created using those concepts. I love the topic on Cryptography, as well as Collections and Generics. Even If I don't pass the exam, the knowledge I gained from this book alone is well worth the price and effort reading it. ...fortunately, I did! p.s. the book coupled with tweaking MSDN examples will help you pass.
Excellent Study Guide For The 70-536 Exam

I recently used this book as my primary study tool for the 70-536 exam. It covers each section on the exam in sufficient detail in order to pass. I highly recommend taking the practice tests from not only the included cd, but from measureup website as well (they provide the sample questions on the cd). Yes, there are some typo's in the text, but they don't take away from the learning experience. The author spends time to explain not only how to do something, but why it is done. For an individual for myself, I found this style of writing to be very easy and informative to follow. Every individual will have different study techniques that they employ to pass the exam. For some, that includes using MSDN to supplement the text (which I don't think is necessary). However, an individual like myself will spend the time to read the book twice (which may or may not work for you). Overall, this book will provide you with the proper foundation to take the exam and likely pass on your first try.
Covered the material in the exam and provided neat coding tips

I personally found this book useful. I've been playing with C# for a while and decided to go pro by studying and passing this exam. The book was well organized and broken up into chapter which each contained about three lessons. This makes it easy to schedule "I'm going to complete two lessons each week". He provided little tips of the trade for most chapters. Just little things like you don't want to use += operators for strings since strings are immutable and therefore wastes memory and security best practices. This being the first test in the MCTS series it has a very broad base that isn't supposed to teach you any one skill in depth. It gets you familiar with many different aspects of the .NET platform that you might otherwise run into on a daily basis. The book seemed to cover the material since I wasn't surprised by anything during the final exam
I passed 70-536

I've seen comments good and bad. I passed with room to spare using this book as my main guide. That's what its purpose is, and it does that well.
