An extremely useful revision book

The Exam Cram series provide a concise means of preparing from Microsoft MCP examinations. The books tend to be relatively short in length, approximately 200-300 pages of actual reading material interspersed with practise exam questions. Enthusiastic (or just plain in a rush to pass) readers should find it possible to complete this text within 2 - 4 days and be ready for the exam. They are particularly useful for readers that have had prior exposure to the product and now want to extend and revise their knowledge in a specific subject area. This book proved extremely useful and I would fully recommend it as either the only required reading material (if you have prior experience to NT 4 migrations, or good access to a test lab) or as an additional text if you have no prior exposure. This book does not go into a particularly high level of detail or provide any hands-on exercises to reinforce subject knowledge. Chapters 7 and 8 were key to the exam, but explanations were at times sparse and I found myself re-reading them three or so times and finally created a test environment on two servers for the subject matter to sink in! Detail is especially sparse on use of the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) which tends to be a key part of the exam. The book does provide coverage of disaster recovery of failed migrations, but focuses almost exclusively on failed NT 4 Interforest migrations, whereas the actual exam focused more on Windows 2000 Inter- and intra-forest failed migrations and recovery steps. All in all, a good book, which I used as the only text I studied for the Exam.

Great study source for 70-222

This book is an excellent study material for those preparing for the MCSE Windows 2000 track elective exam 70-222. It certainly guided me through all the complexities involved in the 3 migration scenarios: (1)Inter-forest (2) Intra-forest and (3) In-place Upgrade. It also has a good extract from the Domain Migration Cook Book which is part of the Microsoft TechNet CD. Good single source for your exam. Sure success, as long as you take it seriously and do the practice exams.
