Great for reviewing

We homeschool our 6 year old and she is using this workbook to reinforce her reading skills. Most of it is easy for her, but there are a few blends I wanted her to get a little more practice on for retention. I think it is great for that. Like other reviewers stated, it seems a little easy for 2nd grade. I suppose it is lined up for the average student in America--literacy is actually quite low in our country and parents aren't as hands on at home.

Very colorful, easy reading for 2nd grader. spread on page nicely not cluttered. I found it was a little too easy for my 2nd grader and it would have been a great book for last year.

Non-stressful Independent Study

We use this book as an independent study workbook for my six year old daughter. She was reading at three ("Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons") and simple books like these keep various blends in front of her. Completing Phonics books, reading for enjoyment (Rod & Staff), and taking dictation (as I read scriptures from the King James Bible) eliminates the need for a spelling class.

I highly recommend the Phonics book. This book was extremely helpful with phonic blends for age appropriate and for the older child who needs review. It is very good for independent learning.
