Useless

The entire book was useless. When I got the book, someone had used it as a workbook. Someone had filled out the entire thing from cover to cover. I couldn’t use the book for anything. However the content of the book would have been very useful.

Good Book for Teaching Writing Skills. Lacks chapters on Reading

This book has a lot of information to help young elementary students learn writing techniques. The chapters have good information, and they are well-organized and colorful. Grammar topics are sprinkled throughout the book as mini sections/chapters. I would prefer grammar lessons integrated into the chapters, but the information provided and grammar review exercises are fine. This is a good book if your focus is writing. I was looking for a textbook that would help with reading practice and reading comprehension, and this book is not it. This text has virtually no reference to reading except for a few sample passages here and there to support the writing objectives. If your child is struggling with reading at grade level, this isn't the book to purchase. However, if you're focusing on writing skills, this textbook is a pretty good option.

Grammar textbook

This book offers well described examples of each topic. It offers practice immediately following the lesson, but it also offers practice at the end of the unit. Great book to use when you have a child that needs a lot of practice!

good text book

good text book, lots of examples to go over, and lots of extra practice in the back, no need for extra handbooks, etc... we home school our third graders with it and it has been great. everything we need in one book.
