Preparing for the Boards

I bought this book on my first year of residency, not really knowing what it was. I found out that in order to digest the contents of this book you need some 'minimal' experience in Internal Medicine. Unfortunately in my first year this book was better than me. It did not include extensive paragraphs on pathogenesis and mechanisms of disease, because it is only a review, and it is supposed to give you the facts in brief. After getting to my 3rd yaer I resumed studying from this book and feel it makes sense and covers most of the stuff i find in MKSAP 14 questions. I can't tell if it is enough to pass the boards yet, but will update the review in August...

Mayo CLinic Internal Medicine Review 7th edition

I've read a previous edition in the past and it is an excellent text. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that there is a new edition and bought this one instead of the 8th edition.

Good review with quick pointers. The questions were a good review for the boards. Highly recommended!

A great resource

It is impossible not to pass the American Board (re)certification exam in internal medicine if you read (and digest) this concise book. Provided you have had a good 3-year training in a decent accredited internal medicine program. I would also recommend adding to this book a thorough review of the questions and answers from MKSAP (Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program)from the American College of Physicians. The faculty physicians from the renowned Mayo Clinic have revealed many secrets and hidden countless pearls between the covers of this book. It is worth its price and more.
