terrific book for little ones

My just turned 3 yr old grandson, found this book hysterically funny. He loved "reading" the pictures, and memorized the text in only a couple of readings. It's hard to find good picture books for the very young, and this one is perfect!

Simple Treasure

I picked this one out from the library. My 6 year old read this story to my 3 year old at bed time, and it created one of those magical moments I will always remember as a mom. My littlest was in absolute stitches over the story and pictures (being tired may have added to the laughter, but he obviously connected to the expressions of the characters in the illustrations.) The text was simple enough for my first grader to confidently read, and he was delighted to have such a mirthful response to his reading. The simple text and story is made surprisingly rich by the illustrations. It would be a fun one to read at library story time for young kids.

Something about this book . . .

I don't know what it is, but my almost three year old son instantly loved this book. And, when we visited friends who have a two year old boy, he seemed to have the same reaction.

Maybe A Bear Ate It!

I can already tell that Maybe A Bear Ate It! is going to be a favorite in my house. I can see my grandson wanting to read this one over and over again. The illustrations are imaginative, the story is humorous, and certain parts of the text are just fun to say. "Maybe a Stegosaurus stomped on it!" (big emphasis on the stomped part). The premise of Maybe A Bear Ate It! is that the cute little main character loses his favorite book. It's his favorite book so he becomes upset and begins to think of things that might have happened to his treasured possession. I have to admit, he's quite a creative little guy.

A wonderful first book for young people just beginning to learn how to sound out words.

Award-winning author Robie Harris presents Maybe A Bear Ate It!, an easy-reader children's picturebook about a young critter child whose favorite book has gone missing - he can't get to sleep without it! He wonders, did a bear eat it, or did a stegosaurus stomp on it? "Looking... / I'm looking... / I'm still looking... / Hey, look! I found my book! / You know what? I LOVE MY BOOK!" The infectiously enthusiastic illustrations by Michael Emberley bring this simple and warm-hearted story to life. A wonderful first book for young people just beginning to learn how to sound out words.
