Great guide

This book was came in handy when driving to Hana. Excellent condition, fast shipping!!

GREAT Guidebook especially if you have young kids!!

We just returned from our trip to Maui and traveling with a almost 3 year old down the Road to Hana would not have been nearly as easy had we not had this book. It told us every picture and potty stop we needed to know and all of those that we did not need to stop for!! It also did us wonders making the trip up Haleakala! If it has 5 stars you better stop because they don't rate it 5 stars for nothing! Those are the AWESOME sites to see!! Maui is Awesome and this book made our trip all the better!! The Main sightseeing things are in east Maui and this book covers every inch of it!! As for the west side the book does not cover as much but that side of the island does not need as much explanation. It is very easy to get around! IF you are going to Maui to see all the beautiful things Hawaii is about be sure to get a copy of this book!! A HUGE MAHALO TO JOHN AND NATASHA FOR AN AWESOME BOOK!!

Perfect for travelers on the go

I honestly think that of all the Maui guidebooks I purchased (Frommer's, Rough Guide Mini, Trailblazer, and Maui Revealed - hey, I'm thorough) that Maui mile by mile was the most easy to use. It's not all-inclusive like some other guides (revealed/frommer's) but it's great for travelers on the go. The book really only covers the drives for the east side of the island, but that's where you're likely going to spend most of your trip anyway. The few spots they do detail on the western side of the island sufficed in my opinion, and will for most other travelers too. They definitely don't cover the touristy stuff, which I personally liked. Some guidebooks are big tourist traps; this isn't one of them. We discovered a lot using their mile by mile instructions I'm sure we'd have missed otherwise. The book isn't as long or wordy as some other guides, like Frommer's, but when you're on vacation, having a quick and easy to use guidebook is essential. Maui mile by mile was our quick reference of choice. The revealed book and trailblazer will cover the rest. Aloha, Dave

Organization is key... it delivers

I bought a collection of books to use on my Maui trip and what ultimately helped me decide on which book to use was how it was organized. Maui mile by mile came out on top as the organization is superb and the stops are clearly separated on separate pages with their own photos and factoids. Compared to most guidebooks which lump a lot of material together, this was clear, crisp, and easy to use. The book is well written and easy to follow.

Best road guide for Maui (2nd edition even better than first)

This past October we visited Maui for the first time ever. As we look back we realize only now it's no wonder Maui keeps getting rated the "top island." We took along this guide on our trip (well the first edition actually - we've since purchased this guide, the second edition), and overall we were very pleased with it. If there is one thing this guidebook did that others did not then it was by far the detail it went into on most spots. Some guides really skirt details on places and stops where they shouldn't. Others give you tons of information you don't need. This guide was just what we wanted, enough detail to let us know where to stop and what to expect, but not so much as to spoil the experience when we got there. The same can be said for the photographs, and with a photo for every stop in the guide, it's incredible. I was the most impressed with their road to hana and haleakala highway sections, both were excellent and took us to just what we wanted to see. It is amazing how many spots on the road to hana you'd see cars bunched up at with nothing there, and we were sure of it because we had a guide dedicated to JUST that drive. These guys covered every hike, waterfall, beach, and bay between Kahului and Hana itself, and unlike some other guides, they were especially prudent to point out which spots were too dangerous to visit or were on private lands. Maui revealed second edition is another guide we took along and we knew ahead of time it was hated by locals, likely because they don't give stern enough warning about trespassing. It has become clear with all the "private property" posting that many locals are not happy with them. Maui mile by mile has a respect for Hawaii that Maui revealed does not. Their beyond hana, and upcountry maui, part of the book is also well researched and written, but I'm still not sure the drive is as fantastic as they make it out to be. The 7 pools and wailua falls was nice (the trail at 7 pools was also great - they detail it too), but beyond that there just isn't much to see. Still, it was nice having the information for the experience. The book makes you feel like a local knowing the best spots. I originally said (for my first edition guide review) that I disliked how they only covered the eastern side of Maui. It appears they took that fact to heart and have since included a detailed must see and do for Maui. I have to admit, it is exactly what I had in mind. East maui is by far "THE" highlight of Maui, but I didn't previously like not having anything on the western half and now I do. While I still am hesitant about complimenting their black and white images I will say this, the images are twice the size they were in the first book and overall they are a lot better. The sheer number of pictures is a huge compliment to the book, so I can't complain just because they aren't full color. I gave my first review four stars, but I'm giving this one five. In general the guide was fantastic. The maps they inclu
