ANY MAN by Amber Tamblyn I have many thoughts. I appreciate authors who aren’t afraid to take on a subject matter that’s heavy, complex and difficult. This was dark, provocative and thought provoking. It was also poignant, tragic and moving. By using mixed media, multiple vignettes, stream of consciousness, and a kind of slam poetry style prose, this tells the experience of five men, who are brutally attacked by a female serial SA’er. It follows each character as they deal with their trauma (emotional and physical) and navigate the rest of their lives. This also realistically portrays how the media reacts and responds to SA survivors. There’s one scene in particular that angered me because of how accurate it was to real life. In short, this was phenomenal. Do I recommend this book? YES. Also, no. Check trigger warnings! This will not be for everyone. Note: The audiobook production and narration by the entire cast was superb! The portions with the podcast, chats, talk show transcripts and tweets were particularly well executed. Rating: 4.75/5 ⭐️

Definitely check your TW before reading because it can get heavy. Overall, a great read on how society treats male SA survivors. Very good book
