An expedition force from the Moon is sent to invade the Earth but leaves the planet in such haste that Matthew Looney is left behing. This description may be from another edition of this product.
An easy to read, enjoyable, and funny story that has a lesson too. It was my favorite in 4th grade (along with Homer Price) and now it's one of my 9-year old's favorites too. Innocent without being sappy, and full of clever technological misperceptions about Earth by lunar inhabitant Matthew Looney and his family. As a bonus, fabulous cartoon illustrations by Gahan WIlson put this one over the top.
A great children's book!

This is an extremely good book. I'm thirteen years old, and still read my Mom's old copy with great enjoyment. I only wish that I could find copies somewhere for my own. The plot is simple, yet has no cheesy parts. When I was younger, I really loved all the military might of the Moonsters as well as the space technology that didn't blow my mind. I won't spill all of the plot, but basically Earth accidentally threatens the Moon (which is habitated) with a missile(satelite). The Moonsters then take an expeditionary force to Earth for negotiations regarding the threat. The following events are surprising and often funny. One thing you must remember while reading is that this was written before '69, meaning that astronauts hadn't yet landed. I have to say, if you have younger children and are lucky enough to find a copy- BUY THIS BOOK!
