I loved this book...until the last 50 pages.
When the big reveal came, it didn't make sense. The way it was explained doesn't line up with how SO MANY scenes were narrated in the first two books. I'm really disappointed. I loved the first two books and the majority of this one. I'm torn between whether this whole thing was the plan from the start and the author is just not good at writing characters with secrets, or that the idea came to them 2 books in and they decided to roll with it. It didn't work.
A lot of characters--most of the main characters also had moments for each of them where they were just VERY out of character. An "explanation" was given but didn't really make sense or hold up.
A bunch of other scenes happened that look like they'd have huge impact...only to have nothing come of it. It was as if they'd never happened. It was like the authors hadn't reread the previous books...or the first half of this book even.
I'm sad that this really ruined the ending of an otherwise amazing series. I haven't decided yet whether I'll keep the trilogy or not, thanks to this book.
