Book Overview

This is the fourth edition of a successful, comprehensive handbook for scientists, engineers, and students. The handbook presents, in a lucid and accessible manner, classical areas such as algebra, geometry and analysis, as well as current research areas such as discrete mathematics, optimization, computer science and numerical analysis. It includes definitions, results, formulas, graphs, and tables, while emphasizing concepts and methods with applications...

Comprehensive and Accessible

I have been looking for a mathematics hanbook for some time that is both comprehesive and clearly written. This book exceeded my expectations. I have found the probability and statistics section to be very beneficial at work. It does include other topics such as vector calculus, complex analysis, and more basic topics like calculus (integral tables) and plane geometry. I took this book to my CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) exam and it was very helpful. As a note of caution, make an effort to understand the material before applying the handbook. If used correctly, this book will save accessing many other math books to solve critical problems. I would recommend it to any practicing engineer.

Interesting book

It is an interesting book because it collects a set of concepts and definitions very useful when you are working on this field. It allows you to review procedures when you are writing a technical report or a scientific article. Very nice tool!

covers discrete maths, like Boolean algebra and graphs

This reference book is not as comprehensive as classics like Abramowitz and Stegun. The tables of indefinite integrals is very sparse. While the various numerical tables are also not that encompassing. But the book has a nice wide span of topics. Notably, it starts with a chapter on discrete maths, including Boolean algebra and graph theory. So there is a succinct mention of how to minimise Boolean polynomials, for example. Very useful in circuit design or programming. Other, older maths references that were oriented to science and engineering typically ignored discrete maths. Perhaps the inclusion here reflects the increasing importance of computational usages in many disciplines?

Excellent Engineering Math Reference

This book has everything (geometry, trig, linear algebra, diff eq, calculus, ...) in a cleanly laid out format. Many figures are provided to clarify definitions. The presentation is clear and concise - usually I do not need to consult another reference for additional details. Out of my math/mechanical engineering book collection, this is probably my favorite book.

Strong Recommend Mathematical Handbook for Science and Eng.

Handbook of Mathematics" contains the fundamental knowledge for Science and Engineer students. I am using the third edition a lot when I do the algorithm performance analysis. Also the nice and big printing style is enjoyable to read. It contains anything which a computer programmer need to know.
