I use it in my course for elementary education majors

I have taught a course in Fundamentals of Arithmetic and Logic using this book and I have always been pleased with it. The course is designed for elementary education majors, so the presentation of the mathematics in the textbook should be one that appeals to children. I have sat in on a few elementary education classes and the approach is always one of maintaining the interest of a young person. That approach is taken in this book. The short sections, clear language, large number of diagrams and topics are all exactly what my students and I need. There are no exercises at the end of the chapters, but I did not find that to be a problem. I am in the habit of giving the students a quiz at the end of each week, so I did not assign exercises in class or for homework. I have no plans to change texts in the future as this remains the best that I have seen to date.
