Excellent "Learn JavaScript" book

Well-written, easy to follow, and comprehensive. I enjoyed reading this one from cover to cover, and learned a ton of stuff: JavaScript philosophy, operators, statements, control structures, pre-defined objects & methods, plug-ins, layers, even server-side Javascript - all good stuff. Newbies: get "HTML 4.0 How-To" first, then this book, then "JavaScript: The Definitive Guide" by O'Reilly for a desk reference.

Newbies and experts this is the book for you!

I am 15 and have no other programming experience. To many people told me i needed to know C++ to learn javascript. No way this book was great, it taught everything that javascript gives and does not jump right into advaced topics....thats why i loved this book and rated it the way i have. If your just beginning javascript i suggest this book highly or if you are an advaced javascript user this book is great just for a reference.

Great book...doesn't spend 500 pages teaching you HTML.

I found this to be a very easy to follow book. Plenty of examples (which are also on the CD) and explanations of what each object does. Also covers methods and event handlers on all form properties. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who wants to be coding great javascripts in a week.

An Excellent Read and an Informative Resource!

This has to be the best JavaScript tutorial and reference book on the market. I recommend it to both novice developers and experienced programmers. I give this book five stars for both its readability and its reference value. *****

If you are geared towards NETSCAPE, this book rocks!!

So many computer books are written by computer geeks, for computer geeks. This book covers JavaScript in plain English with many working exapmles on the CD that comes with the book. It's easy to understand, covers tons of material, it is current (ie..covers Communicator, and at least some of JavaScript 1.2). Not only is it THE BEST JavaScript book, I've ever used, but it is THE BEST book on any computer topic in terms of clarity, exaples provided, and ease of use. If you buy only one JavaScript book, this is definately the one!! For those of you who are MS IE fans, this book might not be for you, because it deosn't talk much about IE, at least as far as I have gotten. Kudos to James Jaworski!
