Very easy to read. Marco takes you through Delphi from it's roots in Object Pascal. Marco's a very funny guy in person and it comes through in his code. Entertaining and educational. Has beginning material that you won't find in Mastering Delphi 4.

...it really depends which level you already have

if you are new to delphi but have experience on programming concepts I really can recommend this one. after reading this book you know the basics and are prepared buying a book specialiced on databases or internet programming or client server programming (whatever you are interested in) because this advanced topics are not really coverd in detail. for a beginner on delphi (NOT on programming) it is a good introduction to delphi .......says Major Tom

Best Book on Borland Delphi

So far I havent seen a better book than this one on Delphi. I enjoy reading it. I just hope that the author will write a compatible book on C++ Builder

The Best Book for Beginning/Intermediate Delphi Programmers.

I came to Delphi from C/C++ and VB3,4,5. Having seen what my friends can do in Delphi in a short period of time convinced me to learn Delphi. I bought a lot of Delphi books. This one is the best. The author built up a firm foundation about OOP, Object Pascal, VCL, Components, and Basic COM/OLE. Quite straightforward prose and examples. Easy to follow. I also like the binding of the book--despite its considerable thickness, I can lay it down relatively flat without destroying it.

Just get it and you'll know

The only thing that I don't like about the book was its size. It's just too thick and too heavy. If you're a beginner, don't waste your TIME and money buying another Delphi's introduction books, this is the ONE for you. Well, I knew nothing about C/C++, but this book is 100% Pascal. There's should be no single C code in the book as long as I remember. All the code is very useful example for Pascal. Trust me, trust Marco.
