A catching book.

The book got to me from page one to the end. Mary is sixteen years old and she and her family are going through a really bad time. Her father lost his business and that has resulted in the whole family wandering across the country in a RV. Her father has a job every now and then, sometimes life almost seem to get normal again. But in every job something is wrong and than the whole family has to pack up and leave again. Mary helps her mother with her younger sisters and a baby boy. She loves to go to school but they never stay in one place long enough to get settled in. Mary goes to school in one town and she likes it there, but after a short while her father messes up again and they leave in a hurry. It's gets worse and worse, her father can't find a job any more and he won't apply for welfare, he's to proud for that. Mary sees it all and is very ashamed of her parents; she doesn't understand why they can't live with her aunt in their old town. Many times Mary is the one with the adult approach to problems, when her parents just hide from their problems. At the end of the book the family lives on a campside near the beach, and Mary finds a friend who becomes her boyfriend. Mary's father gets crazier by the week and turns against Mary at some point. The end is shocking and unexpected. As in many young adult literature books, the parents in the book are so preoccupied with themselves that they don't see what they are doing to their children. In this book Mary is the one who has to deal with all that and has to grow up in the mean time.The book is entertaining, moving and unpredictable.

The bestest book ever!

I've never read such a great book as this. It's just irresistible to be put down. I really recommened this to anyone.

She never thought she'd go all the way.

A 2 year vacation with 3 sisters and your parents. Maybe some people would like to get away from everything for a while. Mary did, too, until it all becomes too much. Mary was sick of it. Mary, being the oldest, took a lot of responsibility over ger younger sisters. Almost enough to have them call her mom. Their real mom being pregnant doesn't help, either. Finally settled on the west coast, Mary hopes things will get better, but they only get worse. Mom starts retreating back to childhood and Dad is trying his hardest to believe his own lies. Mary is aware something has to be sone. She sees everything falling apart; what is there to do? The RV breaks down, which only makes Dad mad and turns him to drinking. Now, stuck there, no place to turn,no one to turn to, Mary finds a solution. Definitely not a easy one , but a permanet one. Mary Wolf never wanted to hurt anyone, she just wanted a home. This book is easy to relate to. You realize you don't always see how good you have it, until you see someone who has it worse. It's very easy to read through the book without putting it down once. So, don't have anything to do this afternoon? Pick up Mary Wolf by Cynthia D. Grant, and listen to her story.
