Great fun!

Wonderful characters, magical story my 5yr. old loves, and it's great fun for reading aloud. A classic, highly recommended! With original illustrations!

Mary,Mary Mary.

My seven year old is enjoying this, though some of the concepts are a little dated for her.

we love Mary!

Mary Poppins is a magical nanny that lives with the Banks Family. These books are all about her adventures with the kids. These adventures were made into a movie and now are being preformed on Broadway. If you can't make it to New York to see the play read this book. It's the next best thing! This books contains two of the Mary Poppins series of books in one volume! After reading these two kids are sure to want to read the rest of the series!

A lot of fun!

This charming book is actually a compilation of two different books: Mary Poppins (written in 1934), and Mary Poppins Comes Back (written in 1935). In the first story, young Jane and Michael Banks (along with their baby siblings John and Barbara) are a terror to every nanny, until Mary Poppins takes on the task. Resolute and no-nonsense, she sets out to straighten the children out. However, everywhere they go, peculiar things happen around her. But after each episode, she returns to her upright self, and denies that anything untoward happened. What's going on here? In the second story, Mary Poppins returns to the family for more exciting and very peculiar happenings. These stories are a lot of fun. It is obvious that the 1964 Disney movie was based on the first book, but a great deal of liberty with the story. These stories are must more surreal, with no obvious lesson being imparted. Instead, it is just a romping good time with Mary Poppins, her Uncle Albert and Cousin Arthur, Bert (a minor character in the book), Mr. Banks' quite formidable nanny, and a host of other believable and unbelievable characters! My children and I highly recommend this book to you.
