This book is part of the Galaxy series of books, which looks at various astronomical objects (everything from Earth and the Solar System to distant stars). Written for young readers (ages 4-8), this book has lots of bright pictures, and easy to understand text, all of which give the reader a nice introduction to the planet Mars. Now, having been published in 1999, this book is slightly out of date, but it's more that there is more that could be put into the book, rather than any of the information is wrong. As an added bonus, this book ends with a hands-on project - making Martian soil! Overall, I found this to be a very nice book, and a great introduction for the young reader. If you have an aspiring astronaut or astronomer in your home, then you would be well advised to get him or her this book! I highly recommend it.
