slick, tense mystery

Carla Cassidy has a light, easy "voice", creating vivid characters and intense plot. "Manhunt" is a strong tale. Nick Mead comes to the Oklahoma town in search of a serial killer. This killer has been killing men, four now. But at the back of his mind is always the hunt for another serial killer called Murphy. Murphy was very dangerous because he came after Nick, following him from case to case. The last time was three years ago, and it resulted in the death of Nick's wife.Nick moves into the town and takes up residence in a Bed and Breakfast run by Alyssa Whitefeather. She is a riddle to Nick, a woman who keeps her distance from him, a woman the children call witch. Alyssa fears the visions that plague her life, but since the sexy FBI agent came, they are getting worse. She sees visions of Nick and her being lovers - and then she sees herself stabbing him, just like the men who are being killed in her town. And at the back of both of their minds, there is a dark presence of evil haunting their lives.It's a crafty tale that keeps you turning pages.
